Shengjie Xu received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, an M.S. degree in Telecommunications from the University of Pittsburgh, and a B.E. degree in Information Security. He is currently a tenure-track assistant professor at the University of Arizona (U of A), where he serves as a co-PI and faculty fellow at the Arizona Cybersecurity Clinic, funded by Google. Before joining U of A, he was a tenure-track assistant professor at San Diego State University (Fowler College of Business) and Dakota State University (Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences).
His research interests include cybersecurity, secure AI/ML, AI/ML for security, zero trust architecture, and cryptography. He has received grants and contracts in research and educational projects from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Security Agency (NSA). He serves as a technical editor for IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine, a proposal panel reviewer for the NSF, and a technical program committee (TPC) vice chair for ISICN 2025. He is the lead author of the book “Cybersecurity in Intelligent Networking Systems” (John Wiley/IEEE Press, 2023). He is a member of IEEE and ACM and holds multiple professional certifications in cybersecurity and computer networking.
My research interests focus on cybersecurity and its intersections with machine learning and networking systems.
